Lesson Four - Conversation

Ana is talking to Andrea who she has just met in a café. They are having a conversation when Ana asks Andrea   what she does for a living . . .

Ana: - What do you do for a living?

Andrea: - I am sorry . Can you run that by me again?

Ana: - What is your occupation?

Andrea: - I'm a teacher; I work in a public school on Oxford street.

Ana: - A teacher?? You must have lots of students and much patience .

Andrea: - Yes I do. I have lots of students. I sometimes get nervous but most of time I try to become more patient , good , serene, trustworthy and friendly person , as well as humble , open , honest and simple. 

Ana : - That is really interesting. It seems to me that you love your occupation.

Andrea: - Yes I do. What about you Ana? What  sort of job do you have ?

Ana: - I have just finished my  Course of nursing technician , so I don’t have a job at the moment.

Andrea: - why?

Ana: -I decided to improve my English first. I’m at a Private English Course .

Andrea: -  What a coincidence! I'm also studying English. Thanks for the chat I have to get back to work now.

Ana: - Alright.  Thanks  for your time.

L- Good afternoon Cris. How are you?
C- I'm fine, thanks. What about you?
L- Likewise. Tell me my sister...Did you understand that class about occupation?
C- Yes. I did. Why?
L- Can you explain me what does an accountant do?
C- It's a piece of cake, Luquinha!
L- An accountant makes a piece of cake?
C- You are funny bro! . I mean that this question is very easy.
L- Oh my goodness!
C- Well Lucas, as far as I'm concerned an accountant is a person that works with the money and accounts of a company.
L- Congratulations! What about the architect?
C- An architect designs buildings and houses.
L- Very smart! You are really very smart.
C- It's my time to ask , ok?.
L- Go ahead sis! I'm prepared for everything.
C- Ok. Tell me what  an astronomer is...
L- Astronomer? You mean that person who studies the stars and the universe?
C- Are you kidding me? What about the author? What does he do?
L- He writes books and novels.
C- Novels? You mean " Império "  was written by an author?
L- No way! A novel is a romance...a book that tells love stories. " Império" is a soap opera.
C- I didn't know you were an expert in soap opera. lol!.
L- I know you were kidding me. Now tell me...Is there any Baker in your facebook contact list?
C- No. There is not any baker in my facebook's  but there is a bus driver.
L- Who drives buses ?
C- My pal from Manaus does. He is a very good bus driver.
L- My friend is an actress. She is very famous in Hollywood.
C- Is your friend a Hollywood actress? What's her name?
L- Her name is Angelina Jolie.
C- If Angelina Jolie is your friend , she certainly know  my online date.
L- Your what? I didn't know you have a date. Who is he? Is he a famous somebody?
C- Of course he is. Did you watch " Mr and Mrs Smith "?
L- Yes, I watched it. I loved that movie. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, right?
C- Oh my gosh! You told his name! He is so sweet!.
L- Are you dating Brad Pitt? Oh my goodness!
C- Our secret bro. Angelina doesn't know about that.
