Mail Room

For larger size companies, a mail room is provided where each employee has their own box.  Here are some sentences you might need to know.

"Where is the mail room?"

"I don't have a mail box.  Who should I contact to get one?"
"Your mail box was pretty full.  You should go pick them up."
"I haven't checked my mail in 2 weeks."
"I never receive anything so I don't need to check my mail often."

"What time does the delivery person usually come?"
"What time does the mail usually come?"

Large companies also have multiple buildings.  So sending mail to another worker is a common practice.  For example, if I need to send some financial documents to the auditor in a building down the street, I will use the Inter Office mail service.  Some people might say I.O. to make it short.

"I can send it to you through Inter Office mail."
"I'll send it through Inter Office mail immediately."
"I'll IO it to you."
"I need those documents.  Can you IO it to me?"
"Would you like to pick them up or should I send it through Inter Office mail?"

The term inter basically means between when there is more than one.  For example, in the word international, nation is a country, and if you have inter in front of it, we have international, which means involving two or more nations. Another example that you Renann are  going to understand easily regards to Continent. Your team São Paulo Soccer Club was Champion twice in a row of an Intercontinental Soccer Tournament Sponsored by Toyota. São Paulo became the Champion beating Milan and Barcelona in an only game in Japan.

JB- Welcome to our company Renann . This is your room.
Renann - Thanks a lot Sr. It will be a pleasure to work here with you.
JB- Don't worry! Is there anything I can do for you?
Renann - I don't think so. I'm feeling well. Thanks for your concern.
JB- Your personal secretary is going to show you everything.
Renann - It's very kind of you.
JB- Do you know where the mail room is?
Renann - The mail room? I haven't heard about it before.
JB- Oh really? Well, as you know this is a large size  company with lots of departments and hundred of profissionals ...so we have a mail room .
Renann - I don't have a mail box. Who should I contact to get one?
JB - Mr. Steven is the responsible for this. His number is on your desk . Ask Miss Hillary to get a hold of him and provide a mail box for you.
Renann - Thanks again! What time does the delivery person usually come?
JB- He comes around 9am.
Rennan - I don't think that I will have time to pick them up. Is that possible for you to send it to me through Inter Office Mail?
JB- No problems. I can I.O. it to you after breakfast.
Renann - What about you...How often have you checked your mail box ?
JB- Me? I'm sorry Mr. Vaccari but I haven't check my mail in two weeks. I never receive anything , so I don't need to check my mail often.
Renann - What did you say? I can't believe I heard that. If you intend to work in my office you should check your mail box everyday. Go there right now and pick all the documents I've sent to you up.
JB- Oh my gosh! Have you sent documents to my mail box?
Renann - Of Course I have. You are my assistant, aren't you?
JB- Of Course I am Mr. Vaccari. I'm gonna pick them up right now.
Renann - Hurry up! And bring me a cup of coffee, please!

Machine Problems

There are many things to say while in the office.  Something can go wrong with the printer, or you could be wondering why a package didn't arrive.  The next several short lessons will be about Basic Office scenarios.

"Do you know what's wrong with the printer?"
"Who do we call to report a problem with the printer?"
"When is the printer going to be fixed?"
"The printer next to the break room is broken.  Where is the other printer?"

"The copy machine is jammed again."
"The copy machine is broken."
"We need to get the copy machine fixed."
"A technician is coming this afternoon to fix the copy machine."
"Where is the paper for the copy machine?"
"We need to order more paper.  We're running low."

.......................................

Renann - Good morning JB. Is everything ok here?
JB- Good morning Renann . No , It isn't.
Renann - What's going on?
JB- I couldn't print all those papers you asked me to.
Renann - Why not? What's wrong with you JB. You used to be more efficient.
JB- The problem isn't me. My printer isn't working properly. I've already called a technician and...
Renann - Stop talking JB. Just tell me why you didn't use the printer next to the break room..
JB- It seems to be broken too.
Renann - Holy Shit! Do you know when the fuck printer is going to be fixed?
JB- The technician told me he probably can arrive this afternoon .
Renann - No way! I want these copies now. Forget the printer . Use the copy machine!
JB- I'm afraid we need to order more paper.
Renann - More paper? Are you having papers for breakfast? I'm going to lose my temper with you JB.
JB- We're running low but this isn't the only problem...
Renann - No? What else?
JB- Do you remember our last conversation about the copy machine? I told you it was jamming ...
Renann - Is the copy machine jammed again?
JB- No it isn't anymore. Now it's completely broken.
Renann - Why didn't you call me immediately?
JB- I tried to get a hold of you all day long yesterday but I couldn't get through.
Renann - Yesterday I had a tight agenda. Why didn't you solve the situation yourself?
JB- Well, yesterday my schedules were as tight as yours. As you asked me I had got to finish that report about the new travellers . Then I had to drive to your daughter 's school to pick up her and take her home. After that I represented you in  a meeting with our Senior Staff ...
Renann - A meeting? Oh my Gosh! I forgot the meeting!
JB- And you also forgot to thank me for doing that.
Renann - What? Are you kidding me? Go back to your work!
