A visit to the dentist

My tooth hurt through the night. I had to take a painkiller to lessen the pain. Worst of all I did not get a wink of sleep the whole night through.
The next morning. I told my mother about my toothache. It was obvious I could not go to school. So instead she took me to the dentist. I was horrified, but I had no choice.
At nine o'clock we waited outside the dentist's office. The nurse came and opened the door. I was the first patient. She wrote down my particulars and told me to wait a moment. The dentist had not arrived yet. Meanwhile the tooth still ached like mad.
The burly dentist arrived and I was ushered to the dentist's chair. Normally I would run away from the frightening surgery with all its horrible drills and pliers, but I did not. I had to get the offending tooth out.
So I sat down on the reclining chair while the dentist kept saying some reassuring words. I relaxed somewhat. He asked me to open my mouth. I did so. He said that the tooth had to come out. I nodded dumbly in reply.
I felt a slight prick of pain when he gave me an injection, but that was nothing compared to the toothache. Soon, miraculously, all pain disappeared. The anaesthetic definitely worked very quickly. Then before I knew it, the dentist told me that I could go. I looked at him quizzedly and he told me he had already pull the tooth out. What wonder, I did not even feel it.
The dentist put a wad of cotton over the wound and he told me to keep my mouth shut for a while. I nodded, smiled and went out into the waiting room where my mother was waiting for me. The visit to the dentist was not too bad after all.

Conversation

Why didn't you come to class last saturday Cris ?
..................................................................
I'm so sorry teacher. My tooth hurt through the night...
.................................................................
Oh really? I hate toothache. How are you feeling now?
.................................................................
Now I'm feeling a bit better...I had to take a painkiller to lessen the pain.
................................................................
You should go to the dentist.
................................................................
Yes I know. My father is gonna take me there later.
...............................................................
When I was your age I used to have headache. Worst of all I couldn't get a wink of sleep the whole night through. It was horrible.
.............................................................
I never had headache teacher. How did you deal with it?
.............................................................
I went to the doctor and he  prescribed a new medicine.
............................................................
I'm afraid of going to the dentist... but as far as I'm concerned I have no choice...I didn't abide by my parents when they asked me to avoid eating candies. I couldn't help myself  and this is the price I'm supposed to pay.  I'm aware that there's no way out. I think that the dentist is gonna get the offending tooth out this time.
..........................................................
And this is gonna be better , isn't it?
.........................................................
Are you kidding me? I would run away if I could.
........................................................
Run away? From the dentist's office?
.......................................................
Oh yeah ! I would certainly run away from the frightening surgery with all its horrible drills and pliers.
......................................................
I think you should be happy because after the surgery your tooth isn't gonna ache again.
.....................................................
You say this because you won't be there . You won't need to open your mouth sitting down on that terrible reclining chair .
....................................................
You are so dramatic Cris! Maybe he doesn't need to get your tooth out. Relax.
....................................................
I can't be relaxed in such situation. No one can be.
...................................................
In my oppinion the dentist is gonna give you an injection...
..................................................
Oh my God! I hate injections!
..................................................
Don't worry...all you are gonna feel is a slight prick of pain...it's gonna hurt less than putting a piercing on your nose.
.................................................
It wasn't funny teacher. My piercing is none of your business.
.................................................
Come on! Put down your weapons girl. All I wanna say is that you don't need to be worried. The pain of an injection can't be compared to your toothache.
................................................
What do you mean? You mean that miraculously all my pain will disappear?
................................................
Yeah! But it won't be a miracle but the effect of the injection. Sometimes the anaesthetic works very quickly.
...............................................
Oh really? I'm feeling more confident now. I'm sorry to cut this short teacher but my father has just arrived. It's time for me to face my destiny. Wish me good luck teacher.
..............................................
You are not going to the death row Cris. You are just going to the dentist. Good luck anyway.

Idioms /First conditional

As I told you before , there are in the american language four structures to create conditional sentences. Let's kick the ball rolling by practicing the first conditional. It is formed by the simple present and simple future. In all conditional sentences you will see the word "IF" that means "SE". Take a look on the sentences below and see how it works.
....................................................................................................................
Como já foi dito antes, existem no idioma americano quatro estruturas para frases condicionais. Vamos começar praticando a primeira condicional. Ela é formada pelos tempos presente simples e futuro simples. Em todas as frases condicionais aparecem a palavrinha IF que significa SE. Observe as frases abaixo e veja como funciona a estrutura da primeira condicional:

A conditional sentence is divided by two parts separeted by a comma.
................................................................................................

###Na primeira condicional uma frase está no presente simples e depois da
vírgula a outra está no futuro simples, ou vice e versa.
In the first conditional ,or if clause, a sentence begins in the simple present and ends in the simple future or in the inverse order.

###Nas frases negativas os auxiliares devem estar abreviados. (doesn't/don't/won't)
In the negative statements you should abbreviate the auxiliars.
..............................................................................................

###As frases podem ser afirmativas, negativas ou interrogativas.

Lucas = I'm sure I did  daddy . I can't understand it. Frankly, I smell a rat.
Lucas' father = Me, too. I'm convinced that something is definitely wrong here. We'd better call the police.

**** When somebody smells a rat actually he knows that something it's wrong.  For instance, Ana fransoso  is supposed to be home around 11pm after the college but it's almost midnight and she didn't make a call yet. Ana likes things working like clockwork. It smells a rat! Something is definitely wrong.

___ I got the information from a very reliable source.
***You mean Andrelina told you so herself?

***  Who told you that? This is the question when you know that your secret was discovered. There are many ways for you getting an information. You can get it by reading the newspaper or listening to the radio, or talking to a friend ...and on. But when you know it straight from the source ...your source is totally reliable ...just because you got it straight from the horse's mouth
